Starting preschool

What to bring?

Daily - all children need to bring a bag, hat, fruit, and their own lunch.

Weekly - a cot sheet is required for rest time, and a small soft toy from home can also be brought along. The sheet is stored at the preschool on the days of the child's attendance and sent home on the last day of the week for laundering.

All items sent to preschool should be clearly labelled with the child's name.

Meals

The preschool provides juice and water for the children.

Food experiences are a regular part of the programme where various concepts are developed and social skills and hygiene are practised.

Children bring along their own food in a labelled lunchbox.

Due to OCHS regulations we cannot heat food for children.

Staff wish to encourage healthy eating habits, here are some popular suggestions.

  • Sandwiches (crusts left on) and wrapped in foil not plastic

  • Cheese sticks or slices

  • Dried fruit

  • Salad vegetables (carrot sticks, celery, cucumber, cherry tomatoes)

  • Slices of cold meat

Please, do not send lollies, sweet biscuits, chips, cakes or muesli bars containing chocolate or excessive quantities of sugar in your child's lunchbox.

We are a PEANUT FREE preschool as some people can have serious allergies to all types of nuts.
